I wanted to write a catch up blog since we haven’t posted in a while. So here we go: We had our first visitor. A good friend from Charlotte, Matt Gent, came to spend ten days with us, though because of a missed flight, it ended up being nine. It happened to be the week tropical storm Ida came through, so it was a wet week, prohibiting us from going to the Caribbean as planned. One of the benfits of living near a furniture maker is getting really cool, custom-made furniture. It's not actaully that easy, there is a catch. My neighbor, Chris, and I have been bartering services. It has turned out to be a very nice experience. I have never traded services like this but it has worked out well so far. In return for a double bed, computer desk, two stools and a large hand-crafted bowl Chris is getting a new website. We finally got the truck officially imported and licensed and what a crazy, time-consuming process it has been. Our original plan was to ship our 2005 Toyota Tacoma to Belize City on a cargo ship, fly down and meet it at the Port of Belize, and then pay the duty right there and then drive away into the sunset. But the plan quickly went from flying to driving so we ended up here in late August at the border with a truck full of our possessions.
